Publication: Fast Filling of CHG2 Tanks

To enable wider adoption of ๐ก๐ฒ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ž๐ง ๐ฆ๐จ๐›๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ, we need ๐Ÿ๐š๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐ซ๐ž๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ž๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐  without compromising ๐ฌ๐š๐Ÿ๐ž๐ญ๐ฒ. During rapid filling ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ž๐ ๐ ๐š๐ฌ๐ž๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐ก๐ฒ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ž๐ง (๐‚๐†๐‡โ‚‚) ๐ญ๐š๐ง๐ค๐ฌ, in-tank temperatures can become highly ๐ข๐ง๐ก๐จ๐ฆ๐จ๐ ๐ž๐ง๐ž๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ, and our experiments with Type III and IV tanks (60–320 L) show that the ๐จ๐ง-๐ญ๐š๐ง๐ค ๐ฏ๐š๐ฅ๐ฏ๐ž ๐ฌ๐ž๐ง๐ฌ๐จ๐ซ can significantly ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐š๐ญ๐ž the actual average tank temperature. The position of ๐ก๐จ๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐จ๐ญ๐ฌ depends on tank size, geometry, and filling conditions, making ๐ฌ๐ž๐ง๐ฌ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐š๐œ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ critical for reliable temperature measurement. Accurate temperature data are not only essential for ๐ฌ๐š๐Ÿ๐ž ๐ซ๐ž๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ž๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ญ๐จ๐œ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฌ (e.g. SAE J2601–5), but also for developing and validating ๐ฆ๐จ๐๐ž๐ฅ-๐›๐š๐ฌ๐ž๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐๐ข๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ of tank temperature during fast fills.
